Dr. Tracee Burroughs-Gardner has committed her professional career to the fields of medicine, science, and
psychiatry. She currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Urban Behavioral Associates (UBA),
headquartered in Suitland, MD. Practicing throughout the state of Maryland and the District of Columbia,
Tracee has dedicated her professional life to helping those with chronic and persistent mental illnesses living
in urban cities and environments.

With more than fifteen (15) years experience in studying and practicing in the fields of medicine, science, and
psychiatry, Dr. Burroughs-Gardner’s expertise spans beyond serving patients through traditional counseling.
She is known for contributing to academia through publishing and teaching as well. Dr. Burroughs-Gardner’s
postdoctoral accomplishments include experiences countrywide from the Immersion Training through the
Mental Health Village of Long Beach, California to the ACT Fidelity Assessment and Quality Improvement of
the Delaware Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health in Wilmington, Delaware. Dr.
Burroughs-Gardner has devoted a significant amount of time within her career to The Johns Hopkins
University as well. At this institution, she obtained a certificate through the Science of Clinical Investigation
within the Bloomberg School of Public Health as well as participating in the Faculty Development Program in
Teaching Skills through Johns Hopkins Bayview. Her publications include mentions in Psychiatric News
within the article “Minority Residents Face Double Burden” and within the Community Mental Health
Journal with the article titled, “Utilization of Evidenced Based Dialectical Behavioral Therapy in Assertive
Community Treatment: Examining Feasibility and Challenges”. Dr. Burroughs-Gardner enjoys the
opportunity to teach and share her career experiences with aspiring medical professionals and believes that
educating future physicians is just as important as providing counseling to her patients.

Dr. Burroughs-Gardner is actively involved in community service initiatives as well as contributing to
nonprofit organizations that focus on the field of psychiatry. She is an active member of the American
Psychiatric Association (APA), writes and lectures nationally on topics in the fields of community and cultural
psychiatry and provides professional services throughout Prince George’s County in Maryland and the District
of Columbia. Her community engagement includes providing her professional services to mental health prison
reentry treatment programs, counseling refugees through the International Rescue Commission and advising
patients in Assertive Community Treatment Programs. Dr. Burroughs-Gardner sets on numerous boards to
support her local community including the Smart Re-entry Grant for the Prince George’s County Health
Department and the Behavioral Health Advisory Committee. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of
Psychiatry and Neurology in General Psychiatry, as well as a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

Dr. Burroughs-Gardner’s continuous work within the field has been recognized by her peers through various
awards and accolades. She was awarded the Witney Holland Rose Award, the Dr. Eugene B. Brody Award for
Excellence, Psychotherapy of the Severely and Persistently Mentally Ill, and the Dr. Donald R. Ross Award for
Best Psychotherapy Paper at the University of Maryland during her Sheppard Pratt residency. Other
recognition throughout her professional career includes Phi Beta Kappa, Who’s Who Among American College
Students and the Merit Scholarship through Howard University and George Washington University School of
Medicine.

Dr. Tracee Burroughs-Gardner received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Howard University in Biology;
graduating Magna Cum Laude amongst her peers. She later completed her Medical Degree from the George
Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Burroughs-Gardner continues to evolve her career through
practicing, teaching within academia and serving her local community.
